What Remodeling Professionals Can Do to Attract More Clients

Attracting more clients is the goal of any small business. Thankfully, there are many ways to achieve it. If you're a remodeling professional who is looking to increase your customer base, check out the following tips for success.
Ask for Referrals
Seeing the satisfaction on a customer's face after a successful remodel is your indication of a job well done. But what happens after this? Do your customers share their excitement with others? You can help channel this excitement by asking for referrals. Almost 60% of business comes from referrals and repeat clients. Referrals help clients trust in your services.

Prompting referrals can be done in a number of ways. Adding language onto receipts is a start if you are nervous about asking customers to follow up. You could also hand out a separate card that suggests ways they can do this. Or, just ask the customer at the end of the job to leave a referral if you're more comfortable communicating in person. Social media and word-of-mouth are vital for growing business, and customer referrals are a great way to drive business.

Offer Financing
Financing is an important part of remodeling jobs, and research has shown that 50% of home improvement projects over $5,000 are financed somehow. When clients come to you with a job, they might not be aware of the finance and loan process for remodeling. Having information on hand is the very minimum that a company should provide, but there are many other steps to take to help customers with financing. Building a relationship with a finance company can be a great way to expand and cross-promote with another local small business.

In-house financing, or providing loans directly to customers, is a bit more complex, but it might also be a good solution, depending on the location of your business and the clientele you serve. This offers a very personal approach to business, and many customers find it helpful to just work with one company from start to finish.

Community Service
Doing community service might seem to be an odd way to attract more clients, but this community engagement is at the heart of all your engagement efforts. Veteran-owned businesses can especially benefit from this by offering discounts for veterans, participating in veteran's events, and community building projects.

Community service builds your reputation within the community, and the people who benefit from your volunteerism will be more likely to seek you out and provide those ever-important referrals to their friends and family. Your engagement will also benefit employees by providing them a chance to volunteer without taking away from their work time.

Remodeling professionals can increase their customer base in several ways that are all centered around community engagement. Having peripheral services available to your clients, like in-house financing, seeking out referrals, and establishing a strong link with the community that you serve are all ways to organically grow your business.
